Adarsh is from India and did his bachelor’s and master’s in Biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology – Kharagpur, followed by a PhD in systems neuroscience as a PMRF fellow under the guidance of Prof. Sharba Bandyopadhyay in the Information Processing Laboratory at IIT Kharagpur. In his PhD, Adarsh studied the neuronal micro-circuitry in the auditory cortex responsible for encoding of spectral and temporal components in the sound stimuli. He built a model demonstrating the detection of rare auditory events and their role in cortical development. Adarsh joined the kumar lab in July 2023 as a Postdoc associate and is interested in studying statistical patterns in vocalizations of freely behaving mice in various social contexts and finding their appropriate behavioral correlates. Apart from work, Adarsh enjoys cooking and cycling.
